Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph;

This feast celebrates the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.  The readings for this feast this year focus on the warning given by an angel to Joseph in a dream of the need to take Jesus and Mary to Egypt because of the planned slaughter of the innocents by Herod and his soldiers.  Herod dispatched his soldiers to Bethlehem to kill all male children below the age of 2 years, in his illicit desire to secure his kingship, threatened by the birth of the Messiah.

The Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph is a weekend Obligation this year.

In 2024, this Feast will be on Saturday, Dec. 28 (the vigil) and Sunday, Dec. 30 (the Feast)
