Weekend Ambo Presentation

We have been talking for several weeks about the implementation of the new English translation of the Roman Missal.  We are in the final week of our Summer Awareness Campaign, which was designed to introduce this new translation to our Parish.

The Roman Missal Implementation Core Team for St. Michael’s was formed in February 2011, and it includes all three of our Clergy, as well as representatives from our Liturgy team, Music Ministry, Youth Ministry, Religious Education, Pastoral Council, and administrative staff.  Our overall goal is to provide everyone with a deeper understanding of the Mass and prepare us all for the new words and Mass music that will be used beginning the first weekend of Advent.

This summer, our pulpit talks, bulletin articles, and handouts were designed to introduce the change.  Beginning the weekend of September 11th, we will spend a few minutes at the beginning of each Mass practicing the new spoken and sung responses and the new music for a specific part of the Liturgy.  Printed worship aids will be available in the pews for you to use while we practice.

During Mass, the homily will focus on the theological and scriptural foundation for the same part of the Mass.  Our Youth Ministry and Religious Education programs will cover age-appropriate material for the same portion of the Liturgy during their weekly sessions.  Lastly, there will be in-depth study materials and a weekly bible study available for those who wish to delve deeper.

The St. Michael’s implementation team will be available after Mass at a table in the hallway on this weekend to answer your questions and provide additional information.  You can also access all the information on the St. Michael’s website, www.smlj.org.
